“Marketing is not just about selling, it’s about educating, problem-solving, and making a real impact,” said Karthik Kumar, Associate Vice President, Growth Marketing, Qseap Infotech Pvt Ltd.

What inspired you to step into the world of marketing, especially in the IT space?

I got into IT marketing because it’s the perfect mix of strategy, creativity, and technology. It’s not just about selling, it’s about educating, problem-solving, and making a real impact.

Marketing in the IT/cybersecurity industry can be tricky! What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did you tackle it?

Marketing in IT/cybersecurity is a challenge! One of the biggest hurdles that I have had to overcome was translating complex technical concepts into messaging that resonated with non-technical decision-makers. To achieve this, I focused on storytelling using real-world breach scenarios and ROI-driven outcomes instead of just technical jargon. I had to make it simple without oversimplifying, and the use of case studies, analogies, and industry trends bridged the gap.

Marketing teams are the backbone of any brand—how do you build a high-performing team and align their goals with other departments?

Absolutely! A high-performance marketing team relies on clear communication, collaboration, and a shared vision. Hired people are a mix of creativity, analytical skills, and industry knowledge. Regular cross-functional meetings with the sales, product, and customer success teams will ensure alignment around goals, messaging, and priorities. We are also data-driven, continuously learn, and ensure that innovation and agility drive our success.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind as a marketing leader?

I aim to leave a legacy of customer-driven marketing strategies that foster growth, inspire creativity, and empower future leaders to make bold, data-driven decisions.
