“Adopt a culture of lifelong learning where remaining current on new technologies and threat environments is a top focus”, says Yusuf Ashfaq Hashmi, Group CISO, Jubilant Ingrevia Ltd.

CXO Aspect – A series of interviews with CXOs to learn and understand diverse aspects related to their leadership and handling of multiple roles/responsibilities. This time, we are pleased to know about the journey of Yusuf Ashfaq Hashmi, Group CISO, Jubilant Ingrevia Ltd. He has contributed towards cybersecurity and has set a remarkable working style. We are pleased to know his thoughts on a few set of questions.

1. How will you describe your journey in the cybersecurity Industry?

My main responsibility as the group’s chief information security officer (CISO) is to oversee and ensure the security of the company’s information assets. I am in charge of creating and implementing a thorough cybersecurity strategy, identifying and reducing risks, and protecting systems and data from threats and breaches. I supervise a group of security experts, work with stakeholders to develop security policies and practises, carry out audits and vulnerability assessments, and offer advice on security best practices. In order to maintain a pro-active approach to cybersecurity, I also keep up with the most recent threats and technology.

2. How will you describe your journey in the cybersecurity Industry?

My experience in the cybersecurity sector has been rewarding and exciting. I first gained a solid foundation in computer science as a budding professional before gradually specializing on cybersecurity. I obtained practical experience in a variety of positions, including team leader, consultant, and security analyst. I improved my knowledge of risk analysis, incident response, and security architecture with each stage. I remained dedicated to lifelong learning, gaining necessary qualifications, and keeping up with new dangers. Due to the industry’s ongoing evolution, adaptability and resilience are requirements. Overall, my journey has been characterized by ongoing development, expanding knowledge, and a love for safeguarding priceless information assets.

3. If you could make one recommendation to the next generation of cybersecurity leaders, what would it be?

I would advise the upcoming group of cybersecurity leaders to create a strong commitment to teamwork and knowledge-sharing. To keep ahead of threats, cybersecurity is a complicated and fast growing field that calls for cooperation. Share best practises, promote open dialogue and cooperation across teams and organisations, and take an active part in trade shows and forums. Adopt a culture of lifelong learning where remaining current on new technologies and threat environments is a top focus. Collaboration and knowledge-sharing are encouraged so that we may collaboratively bolster our defenses and successfully address the changing challenges of cybersecurity.

4. How do you stay current with the latest security threats and technologies?

I use a number of techniques to keep up with the most recent security risks and technologies. In order to learn from industry professionals, I actively engage in conferences, webinars, and seminars. I read reliable cybersecurity blogs, news sources, and academic papers to keep up with new dangers and trends. I pursue ongoing professional growth by earning pertinent certifications and participating in specialized training courses. I also regularly participate in forums and professional networks where I may learn from and share experiences with other professionals. Finally, I engage in threat intelligence sharing efforts and work with industry

5. Can you discuss a time when you had to handle a security incident, and what steps you took to resolve it?

Finally, I engage in threat intelligence sharing efforts and work with industry professionals to have access to the most recent information on changing risks.
